ECO Clubs  

Eco-clubs have been established for imparting environmental education to students. At present about 8269 school eco-clubs functioning in all the districts. The eco-clubs are functioning at the rate of 40 per district. There are about 50,000 student members as eco-club members in the State.

The main objectives of ECO Clubs are

  • To educate the children about their immediate environment and causes for its deterioration
  • To impart knowledge on the concepts of eco-systems through field visits and demonstrations.
  • To mobilise students towards scientific enquiry into environmental problems
  • To involve them in efforts to preserve environment
  • The Department nominated separate District eco-club co-ordinators for monitoring the functioning of eco-clubs.
